As a teaching assistant, I am responsible for providing a range of support services to students, including classroom assistance, 1-2-1 software tuition, and thesis support. My key responsibilities include:

• Teaching and assisting students with the finite element software package (LUSAS), providing guidance and support as they learn to use this powerful tool for structural design and analysis.

• Supporting my supervisor in delivery of structural design and analysis classes by providing additional tutoring and guidance to students. This ensures that students are able to fully engage with the course material and achieve their academic goals.

• Assisting students with queries related to their research topics, helping them to develop effective research strategies and providing guidance on relevant literature and resources.

• Providing invigilation support during examinations, ensuring that all students are able to complete their assessments in a secure and controlled environment.

• Working closely with undergraduate and master's students as they work on their theses, providing support and guidance on research methods, data analysis, and other key aspects of the thesis writing process.

Overall, my goal is to provide students with the tools, resources, and support they need to succeed in their academic pursuits and achieve their full potential.

Essex YouthBuild is a charitable organisation based in Chelmsford that provides young people aged 14-19 with construction and employability skills across Essex. As part of my assignment, I was tasked with delivering two construction skills modules to equip the young people with a solid foundation of knowledge in industrial construction skills and a broad understanding of the construction industry.

These modules were carefully designed to enable the young people to comprehend different construction methods, appreciate the significance of sustainable construction practices, understand the reasons behind their use, and interpret design details. Furthermore, I collaborated with the Essex YouthBuild manager to revamp and update their website to showcase their activities and promote their mission effectively.

As a teaching assistant and member of the student union, I have a range of responsibilities that allow me to help shape and improve the overall student experience. Some of my key responsibilities include:

• Facilitating the implementation of new strategies and plans by working closely with staff members and keeping a close eye on their reception amongst the student body. This involves not only helping to develop these plans but also monitoring their success over time and making necessary adjustments.

• Maintaining a strong feedback loop by relaying student issues and concerns to staff members and ensuring that their responses are communicated back to the student body in a timely and effective manner. This helps to ensure that student voices are heard and that their needs are being met.

• Analysing past meetings and minutes from student-staff committees to identify trends and patterns in student feedback and concerns. This information can be used to inform future decision-making and ensure that previously raised issues are appropriately addressed.

• Presenting my findings on student views and concerns during committee meetings, using my insights to inform discussions and decision-making. This requires careful analysis of data and feedback from a range of sources, as well as strong communication and presentation skills.

• Playing an active role in the decision-making of the student union, attending meetings and contributing to discussions on key issues and initiatives. This involves staying up-to-date on current events and trends in the student body and advocating for the needs and concerns of students at all times.
