About me
I am an accomplished researcher and engineer with a strong academic background and a passion for advancing the field through research and teaching. My academic journey began in 2017 when I completed a Bachelor of Science degree with Second Class Upper Honours at Anglia Ruskin University, United Kingdom. My undergraduate thesis focused on improving health and safety in the Nigerian construction industry, highlighting the need for better safety protocols and training for workers in this important sector.
Following the completion of my undergraduate degree, I began a Master of Civil Engineering at the same university, where I excelled academically and was elected as student representative for the course. As part of my master's thesis, I analysed and investigated the freeze-thaw performance of concrete structures using crumb rubber as a partial replacement for coarse aggregates. The research has important implications for the sustainability and durability of concrete structures, and could potentially lead to new and more effective construction techniques in the future.
In mid-2019, I embarked on a new academic challenge, pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in civil and structural engineering at the University of West London. My doctoral research has focused on addressing industry concerns regarding the existing Eurocode 2 detailing guidelines and their impact on construction challenges, sustainability implications, cost, and congestion of reinforcement. Through my research, I have gained valuable insights into the complex and dynamic nature of the construction industry, and have developed innovative solutions to some of its most pressing challenges.
Throughout my academic journey, I have also been actively involved in teaching and mentoring students, serving as a teaching assistant and providing guidance and support to help them achieve their academic goals. In April 2023, I successfully completed my PhD at the University of West London, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to the field of civil and structural engineering in meaningful and impactful ways.
